I am sorry to inform you that stalwart of Keynsham Chess Club, David Woodruff, died recently at the age of 74.
At different times, David was Secretary, Treasurer and President of Keynsham Chess Club.
He has also been Somerset team captain as well as captaining the club teams.
David played in many tournaments, especially in the South West of England and the British Chess Championships.
David was also controller for the Keynsham Quickplay and was the question setter for the Saturday night quiz at the British Chess Championships.
There are pictures of David on the Bristol & District Chess League and a lengthy tribute by Tyson Mordue.
He was a great gentleman and will be sorely missed.
